Endocrinologist Amina Kushcheterova named categories of foods whose consumption should be limited to the maximum.

Endocrinologist Kushcheterova informed that the presence of certain foods in the diet should be limited as it helps to maintain better health.

“Some foods need to be limited as much as possible, because if consumed uncontrolled, they can negatively affect the body, lead to the development of diseases and a deterioration in the quality of life,” the doctor noted in a comment to RIA Novosti.
Here are the foods (and drinks) that should be consumed strictly limited:

  • Added sugar;
  • Confectionery;
  • Carbonated drinks;
  • Syrups;
  • li>
  • Honey;
  • Fruit juices;
  • Ready sauces.

Amina Kushcheterova explained that these products contain a large number of calories, but do not have nutritional value, that is, they do not provide the body with the necessary vitamins, fiber, and microelements.

What also needs to be consumed in an extremely limited manner is processed red meat. Its excessive consumption in the form of sausages, sausages, ham, and canned meat increases the likelihood of developing colorectal cancer, the expert warned.
Unprocessed red meat is in many ways useful as a source of protein, iron, vitamins B and D, but it should be eaten in moderation, no more than 70 grams per day.

“The amount of unprocessed red meat should be limited to 70 grams per day and 500 grams per week. It is advisable to choose white meat, and consume no more than one or two servings of red meat per week,” the doctor advised.
Doctor Kushcheterova also recommends controlling the consumption of saturated fats in the form of butter, chocolate, cream, whole milk, cheese, full-fat yogurt, palm and coconut oil, lard, and bacon. Indulgence in such foods is associated with high cholesterol levels and a significant risk of developing cardiovascular pathologies. According to the expert, saturated fats should not exceed 10% of daily calories – instead, you should more often consume polyunsaturated fats, which are found in vegetable oils, fish, seafood.

What else should be consumed in limited quantities – salt.

Earlier, the portal MedikForum.ru wrote about why consuming enough protein becomes especially important in old age.
