In a conversation with Moscow 24, he said that chronic protein malnutrition is one of the factors in the development of sarcopenia – loss of muscle mass. Ginzburg stated that sarcopenia is a dangerous age-related complication that accelerates age-related decrepitude and the onset of death.

“There is evidence showing that the abuse of animal protein in the second half of life accelerates the aging process,” the expert warned.
The doctor advised including sources of vegetable protein such as a variety of legumes in the diet. According to Ginsburg, older adults should eat a serving of legumes every day.

Protein can also be obtained from grains.

As for meat, limit yourself to one or two servings per week.

“Fish is allowed, about three to four servings per week, especially if it is fatty sea fish. Poultry can also be two or three servings a week,” the specialist clarified.
