Nutriciologist Olga Ilyicheva: excess protein in a person’s diet is fraught with the occurrence of many side symptoms.

Nutriciologist Ilyicheva commented on the protein diet that has become popular, which involves strictly three meals a day and includes only foods with animal protein. This type of diet is believed to increase the body's sensitivity to insulin and reduce its production, thereby reducing fat mass and overall weight.

The specialist explained that such a diet contributes to the fact that the human body receives an excessive amount of protein and does not receive the required amount of carbohydrates and healthy fats. Ilyicheva named the dangerous consequences of losing weight on such an unbalanced protein diet.

“With a deficiency of fats and carbohydrates – the main sources of energy – the body begins to reproduce it from what it has – protein. As a result of this process, a by-product is formed – ammonia, its accumulation in the blood causes hyperammonemia,” the expert warned in a conversation with RIAMO.
The nutritionist added that the excess amount of ammonia that accumulates in the human body with a purely protein diet increases the load on kidneys, and also contributes to the appearance of uric acid stones and gout. In addition, the body's pH shifts to the alkaline side, and this provokes frequent headaches, brain fog, increased fatigue, problems with intestinal motility and constipation.

The expert emphasized that even when losing weight, the diet should be balanced and provide the body with vitamins and microelements. Ilyicheva advised people who are losing weight to first check the condition of the body, since excess weight is often closely associated with pathologies, for example, disorders of the thyroid gland.

Earlier, the MedikForum.ru portal wrote that food is useful for regulating weight consume flax seeds.
