It is important to know how long a person with ARI or ARVI remains contagious, posing a danger to others. According to therapist Ekaterina Popova, we can talk about 5-7 days.

— With a common cold, the maximum release of viruses occurs in the first three days and decreases by the fifth day. With the flu – the first five to seven days, — the doctor noted.

With rotavirus, the pathogen enters the environment while a person has symptoms (3-7 days). Rubella is the record holder for the duration of pathogen excretion – up to 21 days from the appearance of the rash.

– With measles, the virus is excreted up to the fourth day from the first rash, with chickenpox – up to the fifth day after the last rash, – Popova said.

She recalled that shingles and chickenpox are caused by the same virus, it is very contagious.

Let's recall the symptoms of flu:

  • High temperature. Usually above 38 ° C, may be accompanied by chills.
  • Cough. Dry and irritating, may intensify.
  • Sore throat.
  • Runny or stuffy nose.
  • Headache.
  • Muscle and joint pain.
  • Fatigue and weakness.
  • Sometimes vomiting and diarrhea.

Flu can be dangerous, especially for people with weakened immune systems, older adults, and young children. If you become ill, it is important to stay in bed, drink plenty of fluids, and seek medical attention if necessary.
