I really want something sweet: doctor Denisenko named a non-obvious dangerous symptom of dehydration

It is believed that the main sign of dehydration is thirst. However, according to nutritionist and epidemiologist Lyudmila Denisenko, there are not the most obvious, but dangerous signs of dehydration.

A person really wants sweets. The fact is that due to dehydration, the production of glycogen produced by liver cells is disrupted. Without water, glycogen formation slows down sharply, and the body strives to obtain sugar in the fastest way possible.

A pungent odor of sweat (provided that the person washes regularly, otherwise there is nothing surprising in this). With a lack of fluid, sweat becomes more concentrated.

Bad breath.

The skin has become dry, allergies to creams or household chemicals. The sun can trigger photodermatosis.

— If you’re not used to drinking a lot, don’t force yourself right away. Accustom your body to water literally in doses: take 1-2 sips every half hour. And it is better to first “hydrate” a severely dehydrated body with special means that will replenish the mineral-salt balance,” the doctor noted.

The cause of dehydration can be not only heat. Also vomiting, diarrhea, burns, kidney failure and taking diuretics.

Characteristic signs of dehydration:

  • dizziness, < /li>
  • hallucinations,
  • low blood pressure,
  • sunken eyes,
  • rapid breathing,
  • marbled and cold skin,
  • lack of urine flow into the bladder.

Sometimes the signs of dehydration are not so obvious, so the following conditions should alert you:

  • diarrhea, vomiting and nausea for more than 12 hours;
  • loss of consciousness;
  • impaired breathing;
  • abdominal pain;
  • lack of urination for 12 hours ;
  • high temperature.
