Gastroenterologist Paramonov: drinking kefir immediately before bed is harmful

According to gastroenterologist, therapist, candidate of medical sciences Alexey Paramonov, kefir should be drunk no later than two hours before bedtime.

Kefir can cause reflux (reflux of acid from the stomach into the esophagus), so you should not drink this drink immediately before bed.

“This does not mean that kefir is harmful or dangerous, and you can drink it without significant restrictions, but the tradition of taking it at night is rather unjustified, precisely because of the likelihood of reflux,” the doctor noted.

If you drink too much kefir, it can cause gas, indigestion, and nausea.

Diabetics should take kefir with caution, as it can affect blood sugar levels.
