Babies in the womb smile at carrots and cry at greens

Babies in the womb smile at carrots and cry at greens
Unborn babies are already able to taste the food their mothers get. It does this by inhaling or swallowing amniotic fluid, scientists at the University of Durham have found.

Scientists have found that when children in the womb learn through contact with amniotic fluid that their mother is eating carrots, they react positively and even smile. But green vegetables can cause them negative emotions and crying. These findings were made by performing 4D ultrasound on 100 pregnant women from 32 to 36 weeks. Ultrasound was performed 20 minutes after taking the tablets filled with carrot or cabbage powder.

Babies manipulate their parents with a smile

The ultrasound clearly demonstrated that the carrot pills evoked positive emotions in the fetus and his face smiled. But the cabbage content led to the appearance of crying faces. In the control group, ultrasound was performed on women who did not take anything, and their babies in the womb did not show their emotions in any way.

Babies cry in the language spoken by their parents

It turned out that a small amount of flavorings is enough to cause a corresponding reaction in the baby in the womb. This is the first study in the world that shows the reaction of unborn children to the taste and smell of food. The reaction occurs due to the fact that children are able to inhale and swallow amniotic fluid. (READ MORE) Durham University
