Therapist Shanahan: Frying in vegetable oil makes food toxic to the body

Therapist Katherine Shanahan said: food fried in vegetable oil becomes a source of toxins that cause disease.

Therapist Shanahan explained why foods fried in vegetable oil are dangerous for the body. The doctor stated that such oils (in particular, sunflower, soybean, rapeseed, corn) contain polyunsaturated fatty acids, which, when interacting with oxygen, form oxidation products. These substances can act as toxins on the human body.

Thus, food fried in vegetable oil can be toxic, and reheating it only increases the potential for danger. Therapist Shanahan told the Daily Mail about this.

“When storing vegetable oils, their toxicity increases. The dose of harmful substances becomes even higher if you heat the oil, and when fried food is reheated, it reaches its maximum,” the expert clarified.
Shanahan emphasized that to date, a lot of data has accumulated confirming the possibility of the formation of toxins in food cooked in vegetable oil (we are primarily talking about refined vegetable grain oils). Frequent consumption of such food can provoke a variety of diseases, the expert is convinced.

The therapist advised minimizing the amount of fried foods in the diet and not consuming them reheated. If you really want fried food, it is better to use olive, butter or coconut oil for cooking.
