Dietitian Elena Solomatina: cheese is useful as a source of protein and calcium, but the product should be consumed in moderation.

Dietitian Solomatina noted that cheese is one of the most useful foods in the diet of Russians. In particular, being a fermented product, it promotes the growth of beneficial microflora in the intestines, which positively affects the functioning of the immune system and the brain. In addition, cheese provides the body with calcium, protein and vitamin D. Solomatina explained that due to the use of calcium, bones are strengthened and muscles develop better, and thanks to vitamin D, good immunity and a stable state of mind are maintained. As for protein, it is well absorbed by the body from cheese.

“The milk fat in this product helps the body produce hormones. Cheese also contains vitamin A. This is vision, the immune system, strengthening of mucous membranes, health of the skin, hair and nails,” the expert added, arguing about the usefulness of cheese.
Also, in an interview with Moscow 24, the doctor drew attention to the fact that cheese contains tryptophan, an amino acid used for the production of neurotransmitters – the “sleep hormone” melatonin and the “joy hormone” serotonin. Speaking about the effect of melatonin on the body, Elena Solomatina clarified that it promotes better sleep, and also behaves as an “internal antioxidant” that prevents the development of age-related diseases.
