Epidemiologist Margarita Provotorova: with its high salt content, herring can harm the condition of hypertensive patients.

Doctor Provotorova said that a fish like herring has mass advantages that make it useful for consumption.

“Herring contains more than 20% healthy fats (the same as trout, salmon, sockeye salmon), which support the health of the cardiovascular system, and is also among the leaders in vitamin D and selenium content, which is very important for the normal functioning of the immune system,” – the expert shared with the Doctor Peter portal.
The specialist added that thanks to the consumption of herring, the body receives iodine – an element from which a large number of Russians suffer from a lack. In addition, the composition of this fish is distinguished by the presence of phosphorus, vitamins E and B complex, in addition to a significant amount of highly digestible protein and omega-3 fatty acids.

At the same time, Provotorova stated, herring can harm the body due to its high salt content

“Herring can be lightly salted (no more than 35 g per 1 kg), medium salted (no more than 80 g) and highly salted (110 g). It is not recommended to eat the latter without preliminary soaking. Excess salt will make it extremely harmful to health,” the specialist warned.
The MedikForum.ru portal previously wrote that some breakfast habits accelerate aging and seriously harm the body.
