Medic Daria Nechaeva: an increase in fat mass can be associated not only with eating habits.

A large amount of food and an excess of calories consumed, coupled with physical inactivity – one of the most common causes of overweight problems in people. But by no means the only one. Endocrinologist Daria Nechaeva stated that there are also causes of obesity that are not related to calories and food.

“Secondary obesity, which does not depend on eating habits, speaks of hormonal problems,” said the doctor.
Daria Nechaeva told the Doctor Peter portal that hormonal disorders leading to weight gain can occur due to genetic predisposition, stress (especially chronic) and age-related changes in the body that provoke a slowdown in metabolism.

The specialist added that one of the most dangerous in its consequences is the intensive accumulation of fat in the abdomen. If such abdominal obesity occurs, the doctor noted, one should check the content of the stress hormone cortisol in the blood – its increased concentration disrupts the normal functioning of hunger and satiety receptors, provokes an uncontrolled desire to eat.

The doctor named the causes of warts

Nechaeva also drew attention to the fact that adipose tissue itself is also capable of producing the hormone. The more fat in the body associated with food and calories, the higher the risk that additional hormonal obesity will occur, which is much more problematic to fight.
