Doctor Alexander Myasnikov commented on the results of a study on the benefits of olive oil for the brain.

According to the Public News Service, researchers from the United States found that the use of this oil prevents the onset of dementia, significantly reducing the risk of age-related dementia.

“People who consumed more than half a tablespoon of olive oil per day had a 28% lower risk of dying from dementia.”
In his commentary, doctor Myasnikov noted that olive oil is part of the diet with the effect of preventing age-related brain decline.

“The point is not in the miraculous properties of the oil itself, but in the way of eating that implies its use and is known as the Mediterranean diet,” said a well-known physician.
He recalled that in such a diet there are fish dishes, a lot of nuts, vegetables and fruits, little red meat and sweets, no canned food, red wine is acceptable. As for olive oil specifically, its benefits are exaggerated due to the efforts of marketers – it is no more useful than sunflower oil (unrefined). Both should be consumed.
