Otorhinolaryngologist Irina Lazarevich stated that if vitamins are taken incorrectly, there are risks of compromising health, including liver health.

Doctor Lazarevich spoke in an interview about mistakes associated with the use of vitamins and dietary supplements. The expert noted that one of the most common mistakes is choosing and prescribing vitamins and supplements on your own, without consulting a doctor. As a rule, such amateur activities of people are fraught with the fact that they consume some vitamins and minerals in excess quantities.

“An excess of some vitamins (hypervitaminosis) can have unpleasant consequences: for example, if the dosage of vitamin E is exceeded, the absorption slows down other important nutrients and bone fragility progresses,” the specialist explained in an interview with Lenta.ru.
She added that each vitamin and microelement corresponds to a certain quantitative norm for its use. Exceeding them regularly can have hazardous health consequences. For example, doctor Lazarevich warned: improper intake of vitamins is fraught with serious liver damage.

“From long-term use of vitamins without breaks and medical supervision, serious liver damage can develop – drug-induced hepatitis. It causes inflammation and even necrosis of liver cells,” the doctor stated.
