Therapist Marina Konstantinova: eating honey is not always beneficial.

Doctor Konstantinova said that it is wrong to consider honey only a sweet delicacy, it really is has healing qualities.

“The anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties of honey are associated with the content of natural antibiotics and phytoncides in it. It alleviates colds, has an enveloping property and reduces the cough reflex. Honey also has an antiviral effect,” Konstantinova told AiF.
At the same time, the doctor explained: honey cannot be perceived as a medicine, it is rather a natural dietary supplement. Therefore, as is the case with any dietary supplement, it must be used in accordance with the rules, which imply restrictions. Konstantinova emphasized that honey should be eaten in very small portions and in the first half of the day. In addition, it cannot be heated.

The doctor drew attention to the fact that the absorption of honey can become an unnecessary burden on the pancreas. If there are existing problems with the organ (for example, pancreatitis), it is better to avoid honey.

“Honey contains a large amount of fast carbohydrates (sugars), which put a strain on the pancreas and kidneys,” warned Marina Konstantinova.
In addition, due to the high glycemic index, honey is contraindicated for people with diabetes and excess weight. It should not be used in cases where there is a stomach ulcer, gastritis, cirrhosis or bronchial asthma.
