Dietitian Evgeny Arzamastsev spoke about the most healthy foods for people with hypertension.

Doctor Arzamastsev informed that foods with potassium and magnesium are especially important in the diet of hypertensive patients. These microelements normalize the condition of the vascular walls, prevent vascular spasms and swelling due to fluid retention – all this ensures the prevention of high blood pressure.

“First of all, in case of hypertension, it is important to eat foods with potassium and magnesium. These are nuts, herbs and green vegetables. If there are no problems with excess weight and diabetes, you can add bananas and dried fruits,” Evgeny Arzamastsev shared with Moskva 24.
Speaking about other foods that are important in the diet of hypertensive patients, the doctor drew attention to sources of omega-3 fatty acids. This type of fat has a beneficial effect on the condition of vascular tissue, providing vessels with elasticity and the ability to expand under blood pressure. Omega-3 can be obtained by eating sea fish (including herring or mackerel), as well as vegetable oils and nuts.

In addition, berries are very useful for hypertensive patients.

“Any berries – blueberries, blueberries , raspberries, blackberries – contain antioxidants that have a positive effect on blood vessels, strengthening them,” stated the nutritionist.
