Dementia is a serious and often devastating condition for both the patient and his loved ones.Syndrome associated with the continued decrease in brain activity can lead to memory loss, behavioral changes and even problems with mobility.
As with any medical problem, the sooner you detect symptoms of dementia and seek help, the more support options the patient will have.

“One in three people tell their doctors about themselves or a loved one experiencing symptoms of dementia within the first month. According to the survey, only 15 percent of people addressed the problem immediately, while 11 percent said they still have not expressed their concern after the discovery of the first symptom,” says neurologist Alexandra Alyokhina, especially for MedikForum.

Early signs of dementia, includingdifficulty speaking, difficulty concentrating, and memory loss can be mistaken for normal signs of aging, such as hearing loss and forgetfulness.

  • Trying to follow a conversation or find the right word
  • Confused about time and place< /li>
  • Mood changes.

More severe dementia can lead to:

  • Communication problems – some people may over time lose the ability to speak at all
  • Mobility problems – many people become less able to move around unaided.
  • Behavioral problems such as increased agitation, depressive symptoms, anxiety, wandering, aggression, or sometimes hallucinations.
