Doctor Tatyana Shapovalenko spoke about medications, the use of which can lead to increased hair loss.

Doctor Shapovalenko, who became an expert in the “About the Most Important” program on the Russia 1 channel, warned Russians that taking antibiotics can cause hair loss. The doctor noted that antibiotics are not the only type of medications that have the ability to make hair less thick and strong.

“Many medications, in particular antibiotics and antibacterial drugs, can cause hair loss,” stated Tatyana Shapovalenko .
The doctor added that severe hair loss can also be caused by medications prescribed to treat depression. A similar effect is caused by drugs used to treat arthritis and acne.

“Excessive doses of vitamin A can also lead to hair loss,” said the doctor.

In women, excessive hair loss is often provoked by iron deficiency anemia and disorders of the thyroid gland; in men, the problem of baldness is closely related to fluctuations in the level of sex hormones and the body's sensitivity to them.
