Therapist Tatyana Romanenko listed the pathologies, a symptom of which may be numbness of the limbs.
As a rule, complaints about a numb arm or leg arise due to an uncomfortable position of the body or a long stay in one position – an unpleasant condition is due to impaired blood circulation, compression of nerve fibers. At the same time, doctor Romanenko warned that a disease such as diabetes mellitus could manifest itself with numbness of the limbs. The body of diabetics suffers from high blood sugar – among other things, this leads to damage to nerve fibers.
“In diabetes, diabetic neuropathy develops, that is, nerve fibers are affected by glucose. This can cause numbness of the arms, legs, a feeling of goosebumps, burning, and so on,” Tatiana Romanenko explained in an interview with Moscow 24.
In some cases, the doctor added, numbness of the limbs (both arms and legs) indicates on the development of tumors in the brain.
Viral infectious diseases can also manifest with numbness of the extremities. According to Romanenko, viruses that enter the body are capable of infecting nerve fibers, resulting in pain and impaired sensitivity in the body.

Romanenko advised to see a doctor if numbness in the limbs has become more frequent, and also if it occurs, it does not go away for a long time, or occurs without any connection with an uncomfortable position of the body.
