Doctor Romanenko: drowsiness may indicate dysfunction of the thyroid gland

Therapist Tatyana Romanenko said that constant drowsiness may be a consequence of a lack of vitamin D or problems with the thyroid gland.

In the fall, many people begin to complain more often about drowsiness during the day. Doctor Romanenko said that this condition is a natural reaction of the body to ongoing climate changes. With decreasing daylight hours and increasing cold weather, the level of physical activity decreases and there is less serotonin, which creates a corresponding mood, causes apathy and the desire to sleep.

At the same time, noted doctor Romanenko, drowsiness is due to pathological reasons and is caused by malfunctions in the functioning of the body. For example, it is possible with iron deficiency anemia or may indicate dysfunction of the thyroid gland.

“Reduced function of the thyroid gland, a lack of some vitamins and microelements, for example iron, vitamin D, will also cause drowsiness,” warned Tatyana Romanenko in her commentary for Moscow 24.
Infectious diseases also cause increased drowsiness – the body turns off active functions so that the immune system fights the pathogen more effectively. At the recovery stage, it arises as a condition that helps the body recover faster.

Earlier, the portal MedikForum.ru wrote that when there are problems with the thyroid gland, a person experiences outbursts of anger.
