Doctor Malinovskaya: mental and other illnesses may debut in spring

Doctor Olga Malinovskaya: spring is often the time of year when diseases that a person is not even aware of make their debut.

Doctor Malinovskaya said in an interview with Moslenta that various diseases may debut in the spring. At this time of year, the body turns out to be very weakened, because it has endured a long winter period with a lack of vitamins and sunlight, lack of exercise and staying in rooms with poor ventilation. In addition, in the spring, circadian rhythms are rearranged, which can provoke insomnia and mood problems, worsening general well-being and weakening protective resources.

“There are several reasons for the spring exacerbation. These are, for example, changes in hormonal levels caused by lengthening daylight hours, restructuring of circadian rhythms, deficiencies of vitamins and microelements that develop during the winter period, and the consequences of a sedentary lifestyle that many people lead in the cold,” stated Malinovskaya.
The doctor noted that the consequence of these processes is decreased immunity and low stress resistance. Thus, various diseases may debut in the spring. The doctor clarified that most often they are the following pathologies:

  • Diseases of the digestive system;
  • Dermatological diseases:
  • Allergic reactions.< /li>

“Mental problems may also debut or worsen. In the spring, patients often experience seasonal affective disorder, also called seasonal depression,” warned Olga Malinovskaya.
The doctor drew attention to the fact that, first of all, due to the exacerbation of some pathological conditions in the spring, elderly people, as well as people whose immune system may have been weakened due to infections, injuries or stress, are at risk of suffering. But one or another risk of unexpectedly becoming seriously ill in the spring exists at any age, the doctor emphasized.

Earlier, the MedikForum.ru portal wrote about how mental problems can affect the development of diabetes and heart disease.
