Rapper Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, replaced all of his teeth with titanium dentures costing about $850,000, according to images the pop culture provocateur posted on his social media account on January 17.
In a second post, Ye shared an image of his new, pointy smile, comparing himself to the James Bond villain Jaws. In the 1977 film The Spy Who Loved Me, Jaws was a killer's henchman who used his stainless teeth to attack and bite his enemies. Jaws, who was known for his superhuman strength, returned in the 1979 film Moonraker, during which he became an ally of Bond.
A team of dentists and plastic surgeons created unique prosthetics. Fixing rapper Ye's new smile was Dr. Thomas Connelly, a celebrity dentist known as the father of diamond dentistry. Connelly's clients have included rappers Post Malone and DaBaby.
Connelly said that “Kanye was a pleasure to work with every step of the way. His vision for creating unique works of art goes beyond dental advancements. Combining his vision with the science of dentistry has created a new look that is epic.”
According to Ye, radiant smiles should be in the order of things in every family.
In June 2023, Saint West, the 7-year-old son of Ye and Kim Kardashian, wore dental jewelry with the Louis Vuitton logo on his front teeth before his menswear show at Paris Fashion Week. The jewelry featured the designer's famous logo, a hand-drawn V overlapping an L.
