Symptoms of heart failure include swelling of the legs, organs, as well as shortness of breath and fatigue. This is due to the fact that the heart loses the ability to pump the required volume of blood, said Professor, Doctor of Medical Sciences Sergei Tereshchenko.

Heart failure is a condition in which the heart cannot effectively pump blood, which leads to insufficient blood supply to organs and tissues.

— Insufficient cardiac output leads to low oxygen supply to tissues and organs, which manifests itself in shortness of breath and rapid fatigue. Accumulation of blood entering the left side of the heart leads to congestion in the lungs and difficulty breathing, shortness of breath, — the doctor noted.

Accumulation of blood entering the right half of the heart causes fluid stagnation in other parts of the body, for example, in the liver and legs, he added.

When the heart cannot pump enough blood, this leads to stagnation of blood in front of the heart, which causes edema.

Heart failure can be caused by various diseases, such as coronary heart disease, hypertension, cardiomyopathy and others.

The main symptoms of heart failure:

1. Shortness of breath. This can occur both during physical activity and at rest.
2. Feeling tired and weak even with little effort.
3. Increased fluid volume in the body, especially in the legs, ankles, and abdomen.
4. Rapid heartbeat. The heart may beat faster to compensate for the lack of blood supply.
5. Cough.
