Almost any type of cancer is detected in the late stages, when treatment is difficult. Doctors advise paying attention to all the signals that the body gives and consult a doctor in time.
Oncologist Timothy Tiutan named the common possible signs of cancer by which one can suspect the disease.
We are talking, first of all, about unexplained weight loss. If a person loses weight without changing his diet or increasing physical activity, without being under obvious stress, this is an alarming signal.
The possible development of an oncological process may be indicated by a constant feeling of fatigue; it does not go away even after sleep and long rest.
Two more alarming signs are constant – severe night sweats and a slightly elevated temperature.
All these symptoms may indicate a number of other diseases, but it’s still worth getting checked, the doctor advises.
Earlier, endocrinologist Zukhra Pavlova told which types of cancer are easiest to prevent and how.
Cervical cancer. The solution is vaccination against human papillomavirus.
Melanoma. The solution is to protect the skin from UV rays.
Lung and bronchial cancer. The solution is to quit smoking.
Liver cancer. The solution is vaccination against hepatitis B, treatment for hepatitis C, abstinence from alcohol.
Stomach cancer. The solution is treatment for Helicobacter pylori, gastritis and stomach ulcers.
Colorectal cancer. The solution is movement, proper nutrition, avoiding processed meat.
Let us recall the general signs of cancer:
1. Cancer can cause general weakness, which does not disappear even after rest.
2. Uncontrolled growth of cancer cells usually leads to weight loss, even if the person does not change diet or increase physical activity.
3. Cancer causes changes in appetite, such as loss of interest in food or constant hunger. Sometimes there is an aversion to meat.
4. Cancer can cause pain or discomfort in a specific area of the body. This is due to a tumor that is pressing on tissues or organs.
5. Cancer can cause changes in the skin: new moles, sores, or changes in skin color or texture.
6. Cancer can cause changes in the intestinal or urinary system: blood in the stool or urine, changes in how often you urinate, or problems urinating.
7. Cancer can cause unusual discharge from the body: blood, pus, and so on.
