Cardiologist Olga Bokeria: the main harbinger of a stroke is a condition known as TIA or transient ischemic attack.
Cardiologist Bokeria spoke about the TIA condition that foreshadows a stroke. The doctor noted that a transient ischemic attack can occur as a sudden deterioration in health, which many people perceive as a temporary ailment, attributing it to overwork, lack of sleep, or the negative impact of the weather, weather dependence.
Indeed, TIA is temporary – this condition levels out quite quickly. But its occurrence cannot be ignored, the cardiologist emphasized.
“If you have signs of a TIA, you should seek medical help, since this is how the body signals possible serious problems,” Olga Bokeria warned on the Telegram channel.
The cardiologist suggested that the following indicate a dangerous condition:
- Sudden weakness, loss of coordination, balance;
- Speech problems: the victim speaks slurredly, his tongue is “twisted”, he does not understand the speech addressed to him well;
- Numbness in the face, arms or legs;
- A state of confusion, disorientation, prostration;
- Vision problems: everything is blurry in front of your eyes.
According to Bokeria, this condition is the main precursor to a stroke (TIA is sometimes called a mini-stroke). In many cases, a real “classic” stroke develops soon after. TIA occurs when a cerebral vessel is temporarily blocked by a blood clot.
Earlier, the MedikForum.ru portal wrote that doctors named 3 categories of Russians predisposed to stroke.
