As noted by nutritionist Mikhail Ginzburg, the main products that improve the functioning of blood vessels are fatty fish and, in general, all foods containing Omega-3 fatty acids.
“They are anti-inflammatory and reduce the likelihood of developing atherosclerosis,” said the specialist.

Fatty fish such as salmon, sardines, cod and tuna are an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids. Omega-3 fatty acids, including eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), have many beneficial effects on vascular health:

  • Reduced inflammation. This helps prevent the development of atherosclerosis and reduces the risk of cardiovascular diseases.
  • Improving the function of the endothelium, the cells lining the inner surface of blood vessels. This helps to expand them and improve blood flow.
  • Reducing the level of triglycerides in the blood. This is a risk factor for developing cardiovascular diseases.
  • Increased levels of “good” cholesterol. Omega-3 fatty acids can increase levels of good cholesterol (high-density lipoprotein), which helps improve vascular health.
  • Reduces the risk of blood clots.

It is recommended to eat fatty fish twice a week to get enough omega-3 fatty acids.
