A woman from St. Petersburg who became a mother for the second time heard the diagnosis of ovarian aplasia in her youth.

The press service of the city maternity hospital No. 10 (it was there that doctors helped the baby to be born) reported that a woman with a congenital anomaly without ovaries in St. Petersburg was able to give birth to a second child. The boy was born at 38 weeks as a result of a cesarean section. His brother was also born in this maternity hospital in 2020 at 36 weeks.

It is reported that the woman named Ekaterina, who became a mother, was monitored by doctors at the age of 16. The girl was diagnosed with primary amenorrhea – the absence of menstruation. The examination showed that the patient has ovarian aplasia, their congenital absence. With this diagnosis, a woman can be doomed to infertility, but Ekaterina passionately dreamed of motherhood. She was not only monitored by doctors, but also received special therapy. Obstetrician-gynecologist Evgeny Mikhaylin, commenting on this case, noted that the possibility of childbearing for a patient with such a diagnosis was largely realized thanks to the professionalism of the doctors who worked with her all the years after the diagnosis was made.
