Type 2 diabetes is reaching epidemic proportions. Its cunning is that for a long time it does not manifest itself in any way, while a devastating effect on the body occurs, and negative consequences accumulate.

Paying attention to changes in urine or stool can reveal serious health problems, including diabetes, said Chun Tang, medical director of Pall Mall Medical.

1. Excessive urination (polyuria)

According to the doctor, one of the most common symptoms of diabetes is frequent urination. When blood glucose levels are too high, the kidneys work hard to remove excess sugar from the bloodstream. This leads to increased urine production, causing diabetics to use the toilet more frequently.

2. Problems with urination (incontinence)

Diabetes can cause nerve damage. When the nerves that control bladder function are affected, it becomes difficult to “start” or stop the flow of urine, resulting in uncontrolled urination or incontinence.

3. Constipation or diarrhea

Swings in blood sugar levels can affect the function of the gastrointestinal tract and lead to constipation. Patients may also experience bouts of diarrhea.

“Uncontrolled diabetes, or some medications used to treat it, can lead to gastrointestinal upset and diarrhea,” the doctor said.

4. Hemorrhoids

Frequent or straining bowel movements can lead to the development or aggravation of hemorrhoids.

5. Urine smell
In some cases, people with uncontrolled or undiagnosed diabetes develop a severe condition called diabetic ketoacidosis. This happens when the body begins to break down fat for energy due to a lack of insulin.

– As a result, ketones (chemicals produced during the metabolism of fats) accumulate in the bloodstream and can be excreted in the urine, the medic added.< Classic symptoms of type 2 diabetes: constant thirst;
frequent urination.
severe fatigue;
prolonged healing of scratches, abrasions, wounds;
tingling in the legs ;
deterioration of vision.
