The coronavirus hasn't gone anywhere. A new sub-variant of Omicron Covid Eris, also known as EG.5.1, is now the second most common strain in the UK. It causes symptoms similar to Omicron.
According to a study published in Express, experts report an increase in the number of cases. It is important to understand where and how a new strain of coronavirus is spreading in order to be prepared for it.
Eris was first classified as a variant in the UK on July 31st and now accounts for one in 10 cases of Covid. It is considered the second most common variant in the country after Arcturus, which accounts for almost half of all infections.
Pharmacist Duncan Reid noted to the publication that Eris shows a comparable ability to transmit infection and immune response to Omicron.

In April, Rospotrebnadzor reported that cases of infection with a new sub-variant of coronavirus were detected in Russia. This is Arcturus, “Arcturus” – another mutation of the Omicron strain. Its symptoms are similar to allergies: fever, runny nose, sore throat, cough, feeling of sand in the eyes.
