Doctor and TV presenter Alexander Myasnikov spoke about the dangers of low-fat products. This was discussed on the air of the program “About the most important” on the TV channel “Russia 1”.

Low-fat products provoke heart problems, the doctor noted. For the first time, products began to be low-fat in the USA.

— But you have to eat something — they started replacing fats with carbohydrates, and their heart disease rate rose so much that they started researching and realized that they had only made things worse, Myasnikov noted.

Fast carbohydrates, if overused, lead to problems with insulin. This causes an increase in blood sugar levels, which leads to type 2 diabetes.

More about the dangers of low-fat products

To improve the taste, low-fat products often contain added sugar, which leads to excess calorie intake and an increased risk of obesity and diabetes.

Removing fats can lead to the loss of important vitamins (A, D, E, K), which are soluble in fats and are necessary for the normal functioning of the body.

Fats help to maintain a feeling of fullness for longer. Low-fat products do not provide this feeling, which leads to overeating.

Some low-fat products contain additives that can cause digestive discomfort, such as artificial sweeteners or thickeners.

Healthy fats, such as omega-3 and monounsaturated fats, are important for heart and brain health.

Research suggests that excessive consumption of low-fat products may be associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease and other chronic diseases.
