Doctor Mavrichev spoke about the direct connection between pain in the right side and stress

liver
According to rehabilitation doctor Nikolai Mavrichev, usually a nagging pain in the right side is associated with the gallbladder or liver. In other words, we may be talking about discomfort in the right hypochondrium.

Stress may be a common cause of pain in the right side.

The doctor recalled that the human body produces one and a half liters of bile per day. In the case of normal functioning of the internal organs, it flows through the gallbladder and is released into the small intestine.

If a person experiences prolonged stress, the process is disrupted. The solar plexus, which is the beginning of the small intestine, contracts. Tension occurs in the duodenum, bile is retained, accumulating in the intestines.

— As a result, the concentration of toxic substances increases, the walls of the gallbladder are irritated, and pain appears. Then the liver increases in size, the bile ducts hurt and cause discomfort in the right hypochondrium, the doctor told Gazeta.Ru.

Impaired bile flow is also caused by poor diet, he added. For example, today's popular sweeteners prevent the body from producing enzymes normally and interfere with metabolism.

Stress also increases levels of stress hormones such as cortisol, which can affect liver functions, including processing toxins and managing metabolism. Chronic stress can contribute to the development of liver diseases such as fatty liver, hepatitis and cirrhosis.

Symptoms of gallbladder malfunction:

  • Pain or discomfort in the right upper quadrant of the abdomen
  • Feeling of fullness or heaviness after eating, especially rich in fat
  • Change in appetite
  • Heartburn
  • Tense or discomfort in the shoulder or back
  • Change in the color of stool or urine
  • Constant weakness
