Continue to fall out: how to restore hair after COVID-19

hair
One of the most common consequences of coronavirus is hair loss. According to trichologists, “hair loss” usually does not begin immediately, but 3-6 months after recovery.

Coronavirus, judging by the statistics, is receding, but patients continue to complain about its consequences. Most often it is associated with smells and hair.

There are several versions of why hair falls out. Some patients, according to doctors, literally go bald and become desperate.

Hair follicles contain immune-dependent cells that respond to any changes associated with the immune system. Most, about 85 percent of the hair, are in the anagen stage (that is, “sleeping”), the rest are in the telogen (hair has grown). “Delayed” hair loss is due to the fact that they pass into the telogen stage gradually.

This is one version. Another is that during the coronavirus, the body is under severe stress, including due to metabolic disorders. The third version is related to the fact that the coronavirus primarily “hits” the vessels, and the hair is very dependent on their condition. Do not forget that this disease is usually accompanied by a high temperature – hair can also fall out because of it.

According to the candidate of medical sciences, endocrinologist Zukhra Pavlova, this reaction of the body cannot be weakened. “We must accept and survive,” she said.

The best way to deal with hair weakened after covid is proper nutrition and physical activity. You need to review your diet in the direction of protein foods and vitamins, as well as a lot of walking and physical education (dancing, tennis, cycling – whatever you like).

You should also undergo a thyroid examination. And, of course, contact a trichologist to find out the exact causes of “hair loss” and draw up a treatment plan.

Compliance with all recommendations will return hair to its previous state six months after recovery from coronavirus, Pavlova noted.

Do not forget about healthy sleep and mild sedatives. other causes of hair loss:

  • intoxication process;
  • the formation of microthrombosis, resulting in a violation of the microcirculation of the scalp;
  • drug treatment, namely: antibiotics, antivirals, immunosuppressants;
  • depression, anxiety during the period of quarantine measures.
