Cardiologist Marshintseva: What was previously considered a sign of a hernia may now be a symptom of a heart attack

A heart attack does not necessarily mean immediate pain in the heart. It may have non-obvious signs, which were discussed by cardiologist Yulia Marshintseva.

According to her, a heart attack has ceased to be the “prerogative” of older people; it is increasingly happening to young people. Young people complain of numbness in their fingers and pain in the heart or even on the right side of the chest.

“Previously, this was considered a sign of some hernias, protrusions in the spine. But, as practice has shown, they are diagnosed with ischemia,” the doctor noted.

Now patients with numbness in their hands are checked for heart problems. After stenting, the numbness in their hands goes away.

Sometimes people complain of toothache, do an ECG, “and there is an acute period of heart attack,” the cardiologist added.

Classic signs of heart attack:

Persistent pain behind the breastbone. It can last for several minutes or come and go.

Pale skin.

Feeling of fear.

Pain in other parts of the body. It can radiate to the shoulders, neck, back, jaw or abdomen.

Shortness of breath. It can occur both at rest and during physical activity, sometimes accompanied by a feeling of anxiety.

Sweating. Unexplained sweating, especially cold sweat.

Nausea or vomiting.

Dizziness or fainting.

Fatigue. Unusual fatigue, especially in women, can be a sign of a heart attack.

The first signs indicating a pre-infarction condition are chest pain, rapid heartbeat, general weakness, and difficulty breathing. Characteristic symptoms include lips turning blue.
