Pediatrician and neonatologist Aelita Petrova spoke about the pros and cons of inflatable pools for children.

You can get an infection. Microorganisms such as E. coli and Legionella are especially dangerous.

—Swimming pools can become breeding grounds for bacteria and viruses. Without proper care, water can become dangerous to the health of children, causing intestinal and skin infections, the doctor noted.

Allergies to chemicals, used for water purification. Chlorine and other chemicals can cause allergic reactions and skin and eye irritation. Some children may develop asthma or eczema as a result of prolonged exposure to chlorinated water.

High maintenance costs.

Danger of drowning. Even a small home pool can cause a tragedy.

Water quality problems. River water is often contaminated with organic matter and bacteria, as is water from wells.
Temperature changes. Hypothermia can lead to colds and decreased immunity.

Injuries and bruises. Slippery surfaces around the pool can cause falls and injuries.

Noise and disturbance. Children can become angry, after which it can be difficult to calm them down.

Environmental risks. Improper use of chemicals and filters can pollute the environment.

Water consumption. Filling the pool requires a lot of water.

Among the advantages of an inflatable pool, the doctor named the following:

  1. Excellent workout.
  2. Water reflects the sun's rays, which allows children to get more vitamin D.
  3. Play therapy.
  4. Social development.
  5. Strengthening the immune system.
  6. Reducing stress.
  7. Prevention of obesity.
  8. Family time.
