In an interview with doctor Anton Polyakov, an opinion was expressed that there are mushrooms that have an oncoprotective effect, that is, they are able to protect the body from the development of cancer.
According to doctor Polyakov, Chinese mushrooms (lingzhi, shiitake, reishi, meitake) have a potential to protect against cancer.
Oncologist Polyakov named the most common types of cancer in Russian children
“Only Chinese mushrooms have anti-oncological properties due to the presence of beta-glucans in them – these natural immunostimulants are complex fibrous sugars that, in addition to mushrooms, are found in oat bran, fiber, yeast, ”Vechernyaya Moskva” explains the doctor.
Polyakov noted that, in general, the consumption of foods containing beta-glucans makes cancer cells more vulnerable to the immune system, which destroys them much more effectively. In addition, beta-glucans contained in mushrooms can have a stimulating effect on individual immune cells – macrophages, which are engaged in the search for defective body cells that become tumorous. Another ability of beta-glucans is that, as immunomodulators, they fight against viruses that are associated with the development of cancer (for example, herpes viruses).
