“Group A is flour from durum wheat. If the pasta is from foreign manufacturers, then the word “durum” or “duro” may be there. Such pasta is the healthiest, it has a high content of fiber, vitamins, and a low glycemic index,” the doctor shared with MK.
Zaletova added that after such pasta there is no sharp increase in sugar and insulin levels, a person feels full for a long time, not gaining weight. In addition, the fiber in pasta has a positive effect on the functioning of the cardiovascular system and helps prevent diabetes.

Zaletova advised eating healthy pasta with tomato sauce, which contains a lot of the antioxidant lycopene, and any aged cheese such as Parmesan. It is important not to overuse cheese, using no more than 40 grams.

The expert emphasized that it is important not to overuse pasta in general.

“The standard serving of ready-made pasta is 200–250 grams, no more . You need to be more careful with high-calorie, fat-containing additives (cheeses and creamy sauces) – no more than 40 grams,” the nutritionist said.
Zaletova added that pasta made from group B (high-grade) flour contains less fiber and other beneficial substances. Such pasta products are more appropriate for health reasons – for example, when fiber is contraindicated, in case of gastroenterological diseases.

It is better not to eat pasta made from group B flour at all. Such a product is practically nothing but refined carbohydrates, and its consumption is comparable to eating pure sugar.
