As oncologist Magomed Sulimanov explained, breast cancer has several varieties: nodular, squamous cell (diffuse) and armored.
The most common is the nodular form of cancer. Signs are dense nodes in the mammary gland, their sizes can vary from 1 to 5 cm or more.
A feature of diffuse cancer is that malignant neoplasms grow over the entire area of the gland, without having clear boundaries.
— The rarest form of breast cancer is shell cancer. Externally, this cancer can be immediately noticed visually, the doctor noted.
The skin at the site of the tumor, that is, around the nipple, wrinkles and becomes covered with a dense crust resembling a shell. The mammary gland becomes smaller and denser.
Another feature of shell cancer is that metastases primarily affect the lymph nodes.
— Discharge from the nipple, even minor, can be an alarming sign and require special attention, — the oncologist emphasized.
Classic signs of breast cancer:
- Lumps or formations in the breast. The appearance of hard areas or lumps in the mammary gland, they can be painless or painful.
- Unusual changes in the shape, size or symmetry of the mammary glands.
- Skin changes. The appearance of redness, swelling, retraction of the skin or “orange peel” on the surface of the breast.
- Discharge from the nipple. They can be clear, bloody, or yellowish.
- Unexplained pain in the breast or nipple that is not related to the menstrual cycle.
- Nipple retraction or changes in its structure, such as cracks or ulcers.
- Enlarged lymph nodes in the armpit or collarbone area.
