Nutriciologist Ekaterina Veselova: eating beets is good for fighting stomach ulcers.

Nutriciologist Veselova spoke about the beneficial properties of beets. One of them, the specialist named, is the vegetable’s ability to protect the gastric mucosa from damage. According to the nutritionist, this is facilitated by the “anti-ulcer” vitamin contained in beets.

“Vitamin U, which beets contain, is also called the “anti-ulcer” vitamin, it reduces the excess secretion of hydrochloric acid and protects the gastric mucosa from damage,” – Veselova noted in a commentary for RIAMO.
The expert clarified that if you already have an ulcer, beets should only be consumed during the period of remission.

What else is beets useful for?Veselova added that beets also contain the powerful phytonutrient betaine. Thanks to its effects, liver function improves – it becomes less susceptible to obesity. In addition, general metabolism is activated, the body more effectively breaks down and removes potentially harmful substances and excess fat from the stool.

In addition, due to the action of fiber and organic acids contained in beets and their juice, digestion processes are activated, peristalsis of the intestinal tract is stimulated – this ensures the prevention of stagnation in the intestines and constipation.

“Freshly squeezed beet juice should be taken with caution – Before use, it is recommended to leave it for 2-3 hours in a cool, dark place. Taking beetroot juice is possible in courses of 10-14 days,” shared Ekaterina Veselova.
