Nutritionist Nuria Dianova: you shouldn't exaggerate the properties of persimmon if you need to lose weight, but it does have a certain potential for benefit.
During the persimmon season, you can often hear the opinion that adding it to the diet helps to lose weight, ridding the body of excess fluid and swelling. Nutritionist Dianova explained in an interview with Vechernyaya Moskva whether it is possible to lose weight with the help of persimmon. The doctor noted that persimmon does not belong to super fat burners – it is not a low-calorie product.
“Low-calorie products in dietetics are those that have less than 50 kilocalories per 100 grams of product. In persimmon, there are 67 kilocalories per this weight,” the expert informed.
The nutritionist added that persimmon is rich in fiber, which provides a long-lasting feeling of satiety – this is an undoubted plus for those who want to lose weight. But due to the high saturation of fiber, it is digested for a long time, slowly leaving the gastrointestinal tract. Therefore, with frequent consumption of persimmon, there is a risk of constipation.
In addition, passion for persimmon can create such a problem as fibers stuck in the stomach, which subsequently form a phytobezoar. Dianova warned that attempts to arrange a fasting day on persimmon can seriously damage health.
“It is better to eat persimmon not every day, but once or twice a week while it is in season,” the expert clarified.
The specialist urged not to forget that the fruit is quite rich in natural sugars. People with diabetes and kidney stones should discuss the consumption of persimmon with a doctor. People with problems with the pancreas should also consume it with caution.
Earlier, the MedikForum.ru portal wrote that the correct consumption of persimmon has a beneficial effect on the work of the heart.
