Doctors told us how much alcohol you can drink.

High-quality alcohol can be useful due to its effect on blood vessels, which dilate when taken, improving blood supply to organs. But there is also an opinion that alcohol is a dangerous toxin for the body in almost any dosage. Is this really so?

Narcologist Dmitry Boldyrev told AiF that there really is data on the benefits of alcohol.

“The famous American cardiologist Eugene Braunwald believes that without harm to health a person can take 12 “.5 ml of pure alcohol a day is a dessert spoon of vodka,” the specialist stated.
Boldyrev clarified that alcohol in such a dose can be consumed strictly provided that the person is healthy. If you are prone to alcoholism, any amount is prohibited, since a dependent person, having felt the taste of alcohol, can no longer control his desire to drink more and more.

In turn, narcologist Ruslan Isaev said that the beneficial effects of alcoholic beverages can determined by the presence of polyphenols – strong antioxidants of plant origin. Polyphenols are found in a number of fruits, coffee and tea, and among alcoholic beverages it is mainly found in red wine.

According to Isaev, these antioxidants promote the growth of beneficial bacteria in the intestines, which has a positive effect on overall health and immunity.

“When drinking red wine, polyphenols enter the intestines almost unchanged, where they interact with the microbiome and help better functioning of the microflora.”
But the narcologist noted: the same wines contain ethyl alcohol, which can have a destructive effect on organ cells. With its regular use, serious harm can be caused to the body, in comparison with which the positive effect of alcohol will be much less significant.
