“You need to consume a milliliter of liquid per kilocalorie consumed. Considering that a city dweller who has low physical activity consumes from 1500 to 2000 calories a day, the norm has emerged – to drink one and a half to two liters of water a day,” Tatyana Zaletova shared with aif.ru.
The doctor added that with increased physical activity, as well as with developed muscle mass, the body’s need for water physiologically increases.

Also, Zaletova clarified, it should be remembered that not only food, but also drinks can contain calories. If, for example, a person drinks juice or milk, then he should also drink water, taking into account their calorie content – but only in the ratio of 0.75 ml of water per one (liquid) kilocalorie.

As for the most popular drinks among Russians, coffee and tea, the doctor warned: due to the caffeine content, they have a diuretic effect and dehydrate the body. The expert emphasized that people make a serious mistake if they drink only coffee and tea during the day, without drinking clean drinking water. The body of such people is at risk of dehydration, which thickens the blood and leads to the formation of blood clots.
