Nutritionist Elena Solomatina named foods that have a calming effect, which are useful to eat before bed.

Doctor Solomatina said that useful “calming” foods before bed include rich sources of melatonin, a substance that supports the healthy functioning of the nervous system, its ability to switch to rest and relax. Foods rich in melatonin include grapes, strawberries, bananas, pomegranates, carrots, tomatoes, broccoli, rice, salmon, eggs, hard cheese, walnuts, almonds, honey.

Also, speaking about healthy before Solomatina called fermented milk products the sleep of “sedative” products. They are not only beneficial for the intestinal microflora, but also provide tryptophan, thanks to which the body calms down and quickly falls asleep.

Tryptophan is also found in poultry meat – white meat of chicken and turkey.

Another piece of advice from the doctor is to periodically eat fish for dinner. Thanks to its use, the production of serotonin increases, which relieves anxiety and tension. In addition, almonds, which are a rich source of magnesium, help fight anxiety.

“At night you can drink extracts of chamomile, mint, and lemon balm. It has a relaxing effect on the body. Also try chicory with milk and honey,” Solomatina advised in an interview with Vechernyaya Moskva.
