Doctor Melnikova explained why beer is the most harmful alcoholic drink

Gastroenterologist Evgenia Melnikova spoke about the dangers of beer to health.

Doctor Melnikova stated that beer is the most harmful alcoholic drink.

“Beer is often perceived as a light alcoholic drink due to its low alcohol content compared to, for example, vodka. However, thinking that this makes it less harmful is a big mistake,” the doctor said in a comment to Lenta.ru.
Melnikova explained that beer is a rich source of phytoestrogen, which suppresses the production of testosterone (the male sex hormone). Because of this, the hormonal balance is disrupted – the concentration of the female hormone estrogen in the body increases. Such an imbalance has a negative effect on men.

“As a result of its abuse, a man's figure acquires feminine contours with rounded hips and expressive chest,” the expert warned.
Melnikova added that beer increases cholesterol levels, which harms blood vessels, increasing the risk of plaque deposition in them and, along with this, hypertension and other cardiovascular diseases.

In addition, having a diuretic effect, beer increases the load on the kidneys and stimulates their activity, as a result of which the body more intensively removes fluid and useful substances with it. Also, beer lovers expose themselves to the risk of obesity.

“In combination with salty snacks, for example, dried fish, chips or croutons, this alcoholic drink contributes to the formation of fat deposits,” the doctor shared.
Earlier, the MedikForum.ru portal wrote that the risk of developing cancer in the body increases with daily consumption of any alcoholic beverage.
