Dietician Mikhail Ginzburg: drinking cocoa along with coffee and green tea helps prolong people's lives.

Doctor Ginzburg spoke about life-prolonging drinks, naming cocoa among them.

“Cocoa has antioxidant properties that can slow down the aging process,” noted a famous nutritionist in a comment to “Evening Moscow.”
Cocoa is rich in antioxidant substances such as flavanols. They have the ability to neutralize free radicals that damage cells, causing the development of inflammatory processes and associated diseases (including cancer). In addition, cocoa flavonols have a positive effect on the cardiovascular system: they improve blood circulation and increase the flexibility of blood vessels, help lower blood pressure, prevent platelet aggregation and the formation of blood clots.

As a result of a number of studies, scientists concluded that that drinking cocoa is one of the effective ways to maintain vascular health of the brain and prevent the development of dementia.

Mikhail Ginzburg also named coffee and green tea as drinks with a high concentration of antioxidants. Taking them also helps to prolong life, the expert emphasized.

For the same purpose, he recommended drinking herbal teas with mint or lemon balm, and natural berry fruit drinks without sugar. Such drinks contain natural components that strengthen the immune system, the nutritionist added.

“It is better to replace all sugar-containing drinks – soda, fruit juices, alcohol – with cocoa, tea, coffee or fruit drinks,” the doctor concluded.
