Gastroenterologist Olga Evlasheva: butter and other saturated fats become very harmful if consumed in high dosages.

Doctor Evlasheva told Izvestia which oils can be considered the most beneficial for the body. She noted that we are talking about liquid and vegetable oils in the form of olive, corn, rapeseed, flaxseed, and sunflower. The main value of such oils is polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fatty acids, which help increase the level of “good” cholesterol, resulting in improved human protection from heart and vascular diseases.

Evlasheva named butter among the saturated fats that are appropriate in the diet strictly with moderate use. If consumed in large quantities, such fats can be extremely harmful.

“Butter, palm and coconut oil, and lard contain high levels of saturated fatty acids, which increase the level of “bad” cholesterol and are associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease and diabetes,” the doctor warned.
According to Evlasheva, the proportion of saturated fat in the diet should not exceed 10%. At the same time, one cannot completely abandon them. This type of fat is necessary for the body to build cell membranes.

The MedikForum.ru portal previously wrote that giving up meat can cause serious harm to the brain.
