Doctor Oksana Drapkina explained why it is useful to add milk to coffee.

Doctor Drapkina explained that adding milk to coffee allows you to soften some of it unwanted effects. In particular, the doctor recalled that caffeine has the ability to interfere with the absorption of calcium in the body, a microelement, the deficiency of which is associated with the risk of weakening bones and the development of osteoporosis.

“To avoid this problem and compensate for the lack of calcium, just add a little milk into a coffee cup,” the expert noted in a comment to the Pravda.ru portal.
Additionally, adding milk to coffee reduces its harmful effects on blood pressure. Caffeine, being a natural stimulant, activates the heart and increases blood pressure. When using milk, this effect does not manifest itself in full force, which avoids sudden jumps in blood pressure.

“Adding milk reduces the effect of coffee on the nervous system and blood pressure,” said Oksana Drapkina.
The doctor stated that coffee has a number of health benefits, but for this the drink should be consumed without sugar and other additives that improve its taste. But such “pure” coffee has a rich bitter taste, which not everyone likes. Adding milk helps smooth out this bitterness. In addition, coffee with milk does not have the same dramatic effect on the gastric mucosa that a drink without it has.

“Coffee is rich in vitamins and antioxidants, but contains acids that can irritate the gastric mucosa,” the specialist recalled.
