A spice known to Russians – bay leaf – has powerful anti-inflammatory properties, due to which its use helps prevent cancer. This was told in an interview with Lenta.ru by paramedic Natalia Balan.

“It has anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer properties, and is a powerful antioxidant. Decoctions and infusions based on bay leaves have the greatest effect, relieving inflammation and strengthening the immune system,” the specialist said.
Balan also pointed out the property of “laurel” to improve digestion processes, help normalize blood sugar and cholesterol levels, help with pain relief, and speed up recovery from acute respiratory viral infections. The expert noted that bay leaves contain vitamins A and C, which are essential for activating immune resources, as well as microelements such as selenium, manganese, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium and calcium.

Balan drew attention to the fact that decoctions based on bay leaves are recommended for coughs, sore throats, runny noses, which is important during the cold season and spreading infections.
