Infectious disease doctor Vladimir Neronov named the causes of unpleasant rashes on the lips – the so-called “cold sores” or otherwise herpes.
Doctor Neronov said that Russians often talk about the “cold sores” on the lips when herpes type I is activated. The virus that causes its symptoms is responsible for the appearance of an itchy, blistering rash on the lips and skin around the mouth, and the sides of the nose.
The specialist noted that herpes, which is a kind of “cold sore” on the lips, “makes itself known” when the immune system is weakened. The body can reduce its protective resources under the influence of various factors. In particular, “cold sores” on the lips or herpes can occur due to stress, Neronov warned.
“Cold sores on the lips can appear for various reasons, including hypothermia, stress or climate change,” the specialist shared with RIA Novosti.
The infectious disease specialist added that isolated short-term cases of herpes on the lips can be treated independently using local remedies. But with frequent rashes and especially if they recur after approximately the same amount of time, you should consult a doctor.
Earlier, the MedikForum.ru portal wrote that autumn is a period of exacerbation of herpes. The virus exists in a “dormant” state in many people, and during the cold season it can “wake up” in circumstances of weakened immunity – for example, after a seasonal infection. Infectious disease specialist Evgenia Kupriyanova, in turn, said that you can also become infected with herpes through everyday means.
