The doctor noted that the typical ailments of this time of year – sleep disorders, fatigue, depression, susceptibility to acute respiratory viral infections – are largely due to a lack of sunlight and the associated “breakdown” of biorhythms and a lack of vitamin D, which is important for immunity.

“Sunlight has a great impact on a person's well-being, affecting the production of hormones such as melatonin and serotonin. Lack of sunlight also leads to a lack of vitamin D, which can lead to a number of problems, including decreased immunity,” the therapist noted.
Burnatskaya stated that to protect against acute respiratory viral infections, which are common in the fall, one should get a preventive flu shot and also take vitamin D.

“Vitamin D should be taken constantly or according to a certain schedule, after consulting with a doctor.”
In addition, the doctor advises including foods rich in vitamin D in the diet: these include fatty fish, caviar, cod liver, and dairy products. In addition, dietary sources of calcium in the form of cheese, milk, many vegetables, and greens will be very useful.

Another important thing is to get enough sleep. According to Burnatskaya, you need to get at least eight hours of sleep at night. You also need to increase your stress resistance, develop a positive attitude towards life, learn to enjoy even the little things, since the body, protected from stress, is less susceptible to diseases.
