Therapist Tatyana Taradeeva: the body needs fresh air, and it is recommended to ventilate the apartment even in frost.
Doctor Taradeeva reminded Russians that the human body needs a constant supply of fresh air – it needs this to maintain energy and active life. Staying indoors with closed windows – especially during the heating season – is a factor in the aggravation of allergic reactions, poor health and high blood pressure, the specialist emphasized.
“In an unventilated room, the oxygen level decreases and the carbon dioxide level increases. This can lead to a deterioration in health, headaches and decreased performance, impaired cerebral circulation and increased blood pressure,” warned Tatyana Taradeeva in an interview with RIA Novosti.
Therefore, she noted, it is necessary to ventilate the apartment regularly, even in cold weather and frost.
The doctor explained how to properly open windows in cold weather.
- The apartment should be ventilated every one and a half to two hours.
- Windows should be opened in each room in turn. The duration of such airing is 5-10 minutes.
- Windows should be opened as wide as possible – a small opening makes air exchange too slow.
- Windows should definitely be opened in the morning after waking up and getting out of bed, since the oxygen content in a room with sleeping people decreases during the night.
- Airing before bed increases the oxygen level in the room, which improves the process of falling asleep.
- The kitchen needs to be ventilated after cooking – the windows should be left open for at least 10 minutes.
- You shouldn’t keep the windows open for too long – this can overcool the room.
How do you know if your apartment is not being ventilated properly? The windows become fogged up. The appearance of such condensation is a telltale sign of improper or insufficient ventilation, as well as high humidity in the room, leading to the spread of fungus and mold.
Earlier, the MedikForum.ru portal wrote about why it is dangerous to sleep in a room with a window open all night.
