A number of bad routine habits of people especially seriously increase the risk of developing cancer, scientists state.

One of the most harmful habits that most often leads to cancer is smoking, researchers from the American Cancer Society concluded. Also among these habits, scientists included overeating, tanning, and alcohol abuse that lead to excess weight, OTR reported.

Oncologist Pavel Koposov, discussing the factors causing malignant diseases, noted that in Russia the cause of cancer is often inactivity and obesity .

“Smoking most often causes lung cancer, but in Russia another bad habit is now coming to the fore – a sedentary lifestyle associated with obesity (one often follows from the other). Obesity leads to the development of stomach cancer, colon cancer, and pancreatic cancer,” oncologist Koposov listed in his commentary.
As for other habits – tanning or drinking alcohol – the doctor confirmed: all of these are indeed carcinogenic factors. Alcoholic drinks contain ethanol, which can damage cells and provoke their malignant degeneration. In particular, frequent drinking contributes to the development of colorectal cancer, as well as tumors of the breast, esophagus, liver, mouth and oropharynx. Tanning, in turn, increases the likelihood of melanoma.

Koposov emphasized that giving up alcohol and smoking brings benefits even after prolonged use. According to the doctor, this not only reduces the risk of cancer, but also prevents liver cirrhosis or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

Earlier, the MedikForum.ru portal wrote that any drink with ethyl alcohol in the heat has a much more beneficial effect destructive effect on the body.
